What is the experience?
James Galea’s Le Grand Mystique is an intimate and interactive magic cabaret with jaw-dropping magic, impossible predictions, ridiculous songs, and unbelievable coincidences. It has been conceived for an adult audience looking for a good time (and a drink), and stars world class entertainer James Galea.
Who is James Galea?
James Galea is an award-winning magician, writer, and producer. His unique presentation of magic has been seen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, TODAY, The Late Late Show, Access Hollywood, and the Discovery Channel. He is in constant demand as a headliner internationally - including seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The World Famous Hollywood Magic Castle, Tropicana Las Vegas and the Sydney Opera House.
James created and co-produced the critically and commercially successful live shows I Hate Rabbits, Lying Cheating Bastard, Best Trick Ever, POOF! Secrets of a Magician, and the world’s first magic supergroup - BAND OF MAGICIANS which had its world premiere at Sydney Festival before touring internationally and headlining on the Las Vegas Strip.
His series James Galea’s BEST TRICK EVER premiered on ABC (with a live version of the show staged at the Sydney Opera House).
Having lived in Los Angeles for over a decade, James is thrilled to be back in his home town of Sydney and performing at Hubert.
What is Restaurant Hubert?
Restaurant Hubert is a Sydney institution. An elegant French restaurant hidden below ground in the Sydney CBD, Hubert is reminiscent of post-war Paris.
Enter from street level, down the winding stairs, and you’ll be guided to an underground hidden theatre (the Theatre Royale) which is where James Galea’s Le Grand Mystique will take place.
The closest cross streets are Bligh and Hunter.
What time does it start?
Doors open at 6pm for you to enjoy a wine and find your seats.
Show begins at 6:30pm. The evening is typically finished around 8:30pm.
*Latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the show.

Restaurant Hubert is located at 15 Bligh St, Sydney NSW 2000
Are children allowed?
The show is written for an adult audience and contains strong coarse language and adult themes. It is recommended for ages 15+
Children are not permitted.
Are there allocated seats?
General Admission seating is on a first come first served basis. Rest assured, all seats in this area have a great view of the stage.
VIP tickets guarantee seating closest to the stage and the action. They are most likely to be able to participate in parts of the performance.
I have dietary restrictions, can you accommodate?
Unfortunately at this time we cannot accommodate any dietary requirements.
What happens on the night?
The show is divided into 2 acts, with an intermission for food service. Wine is served freely throughout the evening.
Is there a waitlist for sold-out performances?
There is no waitlist, but we do have a mailing list where we announce new dates. You can join at the bottom of this page.
